Outfit Love: A Rose Garden

So Tuesday just came and went! My day didn't turn out at all like I had planned. First our power was off during the early morning and it was raining… then, I totally over slept and missed my morning walk appointment with my mom. The rest of the day went by so quick, it's all kind of a blur! I did manage to get a few important things done. Then Dave was to pick me up at 5pm sharp! He had to be at Cricket practice and I had a meeting with my muso friend…non of that happened. Instead Dave came back late from work (Cricket canceled due to bad weather), my meeting was rescheduled for tomorrow and we ended up going out for drinks with colleagues. The day ended quite good, we had such a lovely time!

So now without further a due, this is what I wore today. I was so excited having finished my dress yesterday that I couldn't wait any longer to wear it. I did however think that such a short dress wasn't appropriate for a week day. Then, by just adding a skirt and changing the accessories that I had in mind to wear…I managed to dress my outfit down just enough to still be classy but a tad more casual.

-when I hung this beautiful dress up, I saw a loads of outfit possibilities form and I hadn't even tried the dress on yet. Then when I had to make the sudden wardrobe change today, I thought it would be fun to see how many outfits I can possibly make with this simple shift dress. This is then no.1 of the Rose Garden-

-I am simply in love with this print and the fabric is amazing! If I remember correctly, it's a cotton/spandex mixture. It was easy to work with and feels great on! Did I mention that it is a knit fabric… it's really awesome! I feel like I'm almost me again. The past couple of years I have been hardly me, I was quite lost in myself. Now, I seem to be finding my way back to knowing myself, but I'm not quite there yet-

Hope you had a lovely Tuesday

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #26 Paisley Blossoms

Good Wednesday afternoon to you! I had the longest, deepest sleep last night and with the lovely rain coming down through the morning, I feel quite creative today. Only problem is, I have so many half projects and so many new one that I want to start, that I find myself a bit lost. I decided to start here, just because my photo's are edited and ready to be posted.

Today's skirt is an old favourite which I cannot get rid of. Every time I  throw it out, I end up packing it back into my cupboard.

-maybe I should add a belt to this outfit to round it off, or take it in at the waist…I don't know. Something about this skirt has made me want to throw it out numerous times. What do you think? Should I keep it or chuck it?-

-I think the reason I've been holding on to it, could be because of the pretty pattern. Another paisley/floral mixture, only this time it looks like the offspring of the two. Paisley Flowers-

~This skirt is made of 97% Cotton and 3% Spandex, which makes it a bit stretchy yet it feels very stark. I found it at Mr. Price too long ago~

Have a good Wednesday!

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #25 Oh So Boho!

Hiya friends! Well, I just realised something about this year. It doesn't matter how hard I've tried to plan, organise or schedule, life just kinda took over everything this year! I  had such awesome things to share, my challenges, my projects, a Christmas Collection…I wanted to start my personalised advent calendar on the 1st of December….but nooooo! I was struck down hard! Last week, our neighbours decided to start picking on us. We are the quietest people in our complex! We keep to ourselves as much as we can, consider other people in everything we do and don't complain about every little thing… Except, now, after months of an open dustbin door right in front of our kitchen window and cockroaches coming in beneath our front door… we had to complain. And now we're paying for asking that the door be kept closed, as stated in the complex rules.

Then Yesterday I was knocked out with the worst migraine I've had in years…. but what can you do? There are far worst thing happening to other people as we speak! We just have to be thankful and go on with our lives. I just want to apologise for my posts not being as constant as I wanted them to be. Hopefully next year will be better.

So without further a due… here is Skirt #25!

-This is such a bold skirt that I sometimes feel intimidated by it, It almost feels like I have to be in a real gutsy mood to wear it. It is also very difficult to create an outfit around it. I found this lovely silk camisole at our local Hospice shop and it turns out these two items really like each other-

-this skirt is of pure cotton and can be a bit warm for our summer days as it has three layers. The print is a confusion of modern paisleys and floral patterns. It is finished off with a satin sash which makes it pair well with my silk cami. I found this skirt at Legit about 5 years ago, it's still new as I've only worn it a few times-

When I put this outfit together, I felt an instant Boho-vibe, I quite like the outcome! I've always admired  Gypsy attire and Hippy fashion, so this is my version of Boho-inspired fashion.

-Happy Monday-

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #24 Orange Cut-out

Okay, so yesterday was just not my day! Today was almost better… still I really do not actually feel up to blogging right now. But I have to, I've just got to suck it up and DO IT! So here goes…

Sunday was the loveliest sunny day. We haven't had many of those, after the flood two weekends ago it started raining again today. I love the rain, rainy days, the smell of wet soil, the desire to cuddle up with my crochet and a good old movie… I'm just a little concerned right now. Our area isn't used too so much rain in the summer, there's been a lot of water damage after only one weekend and now it's raining again!

Where was I? Oh yes, the skirt, right! Sunday was a lovely sunny day…

-I've had this skirt for so long, I can't even remember where I bought it, the tag says Free Clothing. I think that's an Edgars brand. Anyway, it's a super cute little skirt with cut-out, embroidered details and a scalloped hem! What more can I say… oh, it's made of pure cotton and has a scallop-hemmed lining-

-Isn't that hem just the cutest? I not for our windy weather, I would probably wear this skirt a lot more often-

So that's it! I did it, my post is done! Have a great Tuesday:)

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #19 Rouge Paisleys

...hello again. I just realised that I was still one skirt behind. As I still had the tripod set up, I thought I'd just slip on another old favourite. This way I created a whole new outfit by simply changing my skirt, adding a belt, putting on a different pair of shoes and changing my hair.

-this skirt has and probably will be one of my all time favourites. It's from Woolworths, I bought it about 12 years ago and it is still perfect! Made of a 100% Cotton, it is both light and airy in Summer and warm and cosey in the Winter. The paisley print is so beautiful and with so much detail. The tag says Made in South Africa, I wonder where in our Country and by whom it was made...-

-these photo's don't really do the skirt much justice... You don't often find such a beautifully designed fabric in our shops. When all this Fast-Fashion nonsense started, the quality of clothing, fabric construction and printed design, declined drastically... But I don't want to get into that now.

Have an Awesome Friday!

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #12 Indian Block Print

Whoa! Friday is gone! After a really nice lunch and afternoon with Natasha (Bamboo Blossom), Dave and I had a braai and such a fun and cosy evening. We watched House and Dinosaurs and fell asleep in front of the Mac (we don't own a TV just yet). And that, my dear friends, is why I'm only posting Friday's dress now.

It has been so very cold, I'm really ready for winter to be over now! It's so difficult to put together an outfit when you're in Spring Mode and the weather got stuck in mid-winter somewhere.

Friday's skirt is an old favourite which I bought from an Indian clothing shop in Pretoria. It's made of pure Cotton and block printed with a golden fabric paste.

-with a hint of Boho, this skirt really makes an outfit! It's got a sewn-in lining which is awesome, because I think it would be very transparent without it-

-tiny little leaf and flower prints...I love this skirt! It makes me feel so feminine-

Hope your Friday was awesome!

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #11 African Influence

Hello friends, can you believe it's almost weekend again?! Wow, time really doesn't wait... In about a week we're driving up to Pretoria to see our friends and family, yay! I can't wait anymore! Oh how I miss all of them!

Here we are, almost halfway through our first month of Spring and we're still freezing our butts off. I just refused to dress for winter today.

-This is quite a "gutsy" skirt. I bought it about five years ago at Legit and I thought it different and bold. I also loved the interesting pattern with all the pleats and green trimming on the hem. Made of a 100% Cotton, the print and use of colour reminds me of some of the lovely African prints we get here-

-a close-up for you to see the detail of the print and the bold use of complimentary colours-

-Enjoy the last day of the week-

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #5 the Perfect Bodycon

It's Friday! Today was slightly warmer, yay! I can't wait any longer.... I want to start wearing my Spring skirts now! So today I did, ha! Yes okay, I had goosebumps for most of the day but it was warmer than yesterday. I wore my all time favourite bodycon skirt, paired with this awesome knit-shirt with cut-out detail at the back.

-this bodycon is from our local Pick'n'Pay clothing store. I bought it last year and have been wearing it every other day since. It the most comfortable skirt I own and it works well with leggings too (for colder weather). The care tag is printed on the inside of the skirt which means no scratchy tag! The composition of the fabric is 94% Cotton and 6% Lycra, soft, stretchy and even more comfort-

-my awesome shirt is from Meltz, it's made of 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane. It's avery fine knit fabric and feels extra smooth and soft, almost silky. I love this back with it's cut out detail (don't mind the bra straps). It almost feels like I wearing my PJ's-

Enjoy your weekend, Friends!

30 Days of Dresses: Dress#12

Firstly, I would like to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! To all Mothers, New Mothers and Mothers to be! I trust you all had an awesome day and that you were spoiled rotten!

Now back to business... hehe! These DAMN DRESSES!!!! I went to the animal welfare Thursday past, to deliver some blankets we bought for the doggies. As it is almost winter and the shelter can get quite frosty, I imagine. Obviously, being inside one of my favourite charity shops I wasn't going to deliver the blankies and go without a quick browse. I couldn't believe my luck with this one(granny print dress) this dress has nothing at all wrong with it! It feels like heaven, it's a cotton/polyester blend but it looks and feels like silk. It also has a sewn in lining to keep it from being transparent.

-today was quite hot and although I love rainy weather, I'm enjoying the last few sunny day before our rainy winter starts. This outfit was perfect for today, I just added a cardigan when the chilly breeze picked up. The layered soft cotton tunic I found at a local thrift store named Ikaya Africa. They are slightly more expensive but you can find really nice things there-

-absolutely love my Topaz ring that my aunt Bernadette gave me for my 21st! She also gave me a matching pair of earrings which I will share with you some other time. The amazing thing about these Topaz stones is that they change from soft blue to bright pink depending on the light source-

Outfit Love: Archive #3

This has to be a favourite outfit! Dressed completely by Mr.Price, the 100% pure cotton blouse I've had for about 6years now and it is still perfect. I'm in love with Viscose at the moment and "was out of my mind" thrilled when I came across this lovely vintage polka-dot flair skirt, last year. It came with this cute little faux leather belt (you can see it sticking out from under my blouse, there). My denim heels are also Mr.Price, I just removed the floral bows they had on, as it restricted my wardrobe quite a bit. I love the way way this outfit makes me feel...

- I'm walking on sunshine -
