Hello October!

Well hello, October! It seems like yesterday that I went to Pretoria with my family to celebrate my 30th, my Gran's 69th and the birth of our good friends' son! This has been such a crazy year (and not in a good way) thank goodness October is here and things can only get better! This year, my mom and I are taking the bus up to see our family for all the birthdays and to celebrate my Gran's 70th! That's quite a big one! I simply cannot wait to see all my cousins and the family…It's been a year.

These lovely flowers grow wild in our area, along the coast, this time of year. I think it's a variant of the Namaqua Daisy. They're so amazing, when the sun goes down or even just when there is thick cloud cover, they close their petals up. When we were small, we used to say that they were sleeping and when the sun wakes them, they open up again.

- I snapped this pic on our Sunday afternoon walk about a week ago and thought it was perfect for October! You can download the free printable here
I hope you'll enjoy this freebie.

Have an awesome October!

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #10 Spring Patterns

Wow, happy mid-week friends! I'm feeling so much better! Thank you for all of your advise on how to beat the "feeling grey" mood. Something that I've been doing is to sing sad songs in the shower (a looong shower), I find that it makes me feel quite a bit lighter to pour my feelings into sad songs like, Learning the Blues - Katie Melua, Nothing Compares - Sinead O'Connor, 21, Daffodils and Ode to my Family - The Cranberries, What'll I do - Frank Sinatra, you get the idea. You probably think I'm crazy, but it works for me. If you try this, let me know if it helps.

Feeling better always has an impact on how I dress. Happy = Brights. Sad = Dull Colours. Sometimes I would dress in brights to try and cheer myself up and other times I would dress in dull colours because I don't want to be taken note of that day (sort of an invisible cloak type thing).

Feeling better today, I wore my Spring patterned skirt. It made me feel pretty which also helps enhance a better mood.

 - It's made of a 100% Cotton and has a lining, it's such a cute skirt. I don't remember where I got this one because I've had it for like, ever-

-a close-up so you can see the patterns, it's a bit like a doodle-mess. But I like it-

-Enjoy the rest of your week-

-hope it's good-

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #1 Purple Paisleys

It's Spring! Well okay, we're still freezing our butts off and there is snow on our surrounding mountains... But it's Spring! Happy Spring everyone! I Love this time of the year, there's a smell in the air that just so invigorating that one cant help but wanna sing or dance or do something silly!

Being the last month of my 20's, I'm doing a 30 Skirts in 30 Days challenge. Ah, the shops here in our little town are already stocked with summer clothes and after searching for pastel clothes for the past 2 years, I now see pastel lovelies everywhere!

My first skirt is one of my favourites. My parents bought me two skirts way back when I was still in high school. This is one of them. It's from Edgars Woolworths, it's the loveliest 100% cotton and it's screen printed with the most beautiful paisley design. I don't think I'll ever get rid of this skirt. After so many washes and having had it for 12 odd years, it hasn't faded or anything. So here it is...

-this skirt does have a bit of a Boho feel to it. I wish I were a fashion-gyspy, I just can't seem to pull it off. Anyway, as you can see, we had quite a chilly Spring Day here in Hermanus-

-here a closer pic, so you can see how pretty this skirt really is. The funny thing about this skirt (being a 100% Cotton and all) is that I have never had to iron it, not once. Isn't that awesome?! What's your favourite fibre and why do you like it so much? I would love to talk fibres with you!

-Hope you all had the loveliest Spring Day-

30 Days of Dresses: Dress #13

Whoooo-hooooo! Lucky #13! Wow, I can't believe I'm almost halfway with this challenge. Today was another warm day here in Hermanus and I could'nt help but long for spring a little. So I thought that this floral print dress would be quite suited for my Spring mood.

-I found this circle knit shrug at the Rotary Anne's Charity shop in town. It's lovely and soft and cuddly warm... It cost R10(1.09 US Dollars), just the kind of thrifty thrill I'm addicted to-

-just a quick piece of info on my heart locket, It was a present from Dave on our 3rd year of dating. It opens up to form a four-leaf-clover, it's quite something! Inside Dave put little pictures of us from when we just met which was 12years ago(crazy, huh?)-

Outfit Love: Spring at Last

We've had such funny weather here lately, it's been rainy and cold all through September and October. It was so nice to be able to wear my summer outfit although there was still a chill in the air. I love my capped-toe shoesies from Mr.P, my thrifted kid-mohair wrap cardigan and my Mr. Price Project dress.

-there's nothing quite like blooming flowers, fresh summer air and a pretty frock-

Lovely Spring Weekend

...Love my Spring day hair. Although it was a cold and rainy Spring day, I enjoyed just chilling at home. I started a new knitting project and I spent some time musing on Pinterest and in the evening we had a "braai" with my parents and I made "smashed potatoes" found the recipe via my Pinterest. It was delish!

-love my hanky curtains too-

On Sunday, Dave decided that he wanted to go for a drive. So we packed lunch and drink and off we went to the Southern most point of Africa. It was the most beautiful day and the sea reminded me of our time in Mauritius. Isn't the L'Agulhas lighthouse just too cute?
-it was damn cold! the wind blew right through all three layers of clothing I had on--

-by the sea...ooh-ho, by the wonderful sea--
