Outfit Love: Bohemian Blue

Although the season is changing, the chill has crept into the once warmer breeze… we still have relatively warm days. It's a very confusing time "wardrobe wise". You have to constantly layer on and then take all the layers off again. But then again, our summers are much the same here. Our weather changes by the hour. I must confess, though, that I quite welcome Autumn. As most of you already know, I like to learn new skills as often as I can. Though I have done it before, I was never really good at it…that is why I decided to formally take on knitting this year. That's probably why I simply cannot wait for Winter to come!

Back to the outfit then, I always tend to lose track of what I intended to share with you. Guess it's like speaking to an old friend…sometimes I just have so much to share, I don't know where to start. Well, today I just wanted to share my half-bohemian outfit with you. I have always had a fascination with the attire of the Gypsies in the movies of old and the Bohemian folk in the movies of late… Sadly, I have never been able to pull it off myself. I still where my odd pieces merely because I love them. At least when I wear my Gypsy attire now, people don't think I'm crazy anymore. Back in the day, people would stare and think I'm weird. I tried and I learned to tone down my style to fit into society but now I wish I hadn't.

-now, I have ended up with a strange mix of modern/retro/bohemian and sometimes a bit of rock in my fashion style. I seem to love way too many styles and cannot always create a whole identity for myself. One of my aunts once commented that I wear a totally different style every day, but that I make it work. I know this was a compliment but I thought to myself, that is exactly how I feel! Split into so many interests that I think I might have become lost in this sea of possibilities-

-wow! I'm really rambling on, aren't I? My cute shorts, flowy tank and gladiator sandals are all from Mr. Price from a long time ago. My bangles all have different stories: the chunky mosaic one is from an African Market in Natal, the wooden one is thrifted from Matchbox and the bronze one was my mother's. The shell beads are from a holiday spent with my best friend at the time, Katinka, at Sodwana. The textile necklace was made by me and the lovely cotton-knit overcoat was hand-me-down from my Gran. My Mom had given it to her for her birthday a year or so ago, my Gran says that she had picked up too much weight to fit into it anymore. It really is lovely and when I wear it I think of her-

I hope I didn't make your head spin too much, for some reason I have a lot to say tonight.

Well, I hope you had an amazing day, thanks for reading my story.

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #25 Oh So Boho!

Hiya friends! Well, I just realised something about this year. It doesn't matter how hard I've tried to plan, organise or schedule, life just kinda took over everything this year! I  had such awesome things to share, my challenges, my projects, a Christmas Collection…I wanted to start my personalised advent calendar on the 1st of December….but nooooo! I was struck down hard! Last week, our neighbours decided to start picking on us. We are the quietest people in our complex! We keep to ourselves as much as we can, consider other people in everything we do and don't complain about every little thing… Except, now, after months of an open dustbin door right in front of our kitchen window and cockroaches coming in beneath our front door… we had to complain. And now we're paying for asking that the door be kept closed, as stated in the complex rules.

Then Yesterday I was knocked out with the worst migraine I've had in years…. but what can you do? There are far worst thing happening to other people as we speak! We just have to be thankful and go on with our lives. I just want to apologise for my posts not being as constant as I wanted them to be. Hopefully next year will be better.

So without further a due… here is Skirt #25!

-This is such a bold skirt that I sometimes feel intimidated by it, It almost feels like I have to be in a real gutsy mood to wear it. It is also very difficult to create an outfit around it. I found this lovely silk camisole at our local Hospice shop and it turns out these two items really like each other-

-this skirt is of pure cotton and can be a bit warm for our summer days as it has three layers. The print is a confusion of modern paisleys and floral patterns. It is finished off with a satin sash which makes it pair well with my silk cami. I found this skirt at Legit about 5 years ago, it's still new as I've only worn it a few times-

When I put this outfit together, I felt an instant Boho-vibe, I quite like the outcome! I've always admired  Gypsy attire and Hippy fashion, so this is my version of Boho-inspired fashion.

-Happy Monday-

30 Days of Dresses: Dress #25

Hi Friends! No, I didn't get lazy and skip the weekend. I went out with my parents and little brother on Friday and got sick after having a Blueberry milkshake and a plate of chips at a restaurant in Somerset Mall. I was sick throughout the weekend with terrible nausea, severe cramps, headaches. I have never had such terrible cramps in my life! It felt like someone was playing pin-the-tail-on-the-intestines with a butcher knife. I realized that the only thing that could be making me so ill was all the milk I had on Friday, as I got sick straight after I'd finished my massive milkshake. And again on Sunday night after eating half a slab of chocolate with Dave. So now I have a huge problem! How am I ever going to cut milk out of my diet? I'm addicted to coffee and chocolates...

...back to the dress challenge, here is Sunday's dress. Note how puffy my face is, that's from my not feeling very well and having a terrible night with almost no sleep.

-Sunday was quite a bit cooler which gave me the opportunity to wear this amazing dress that Yuseon(my sister-in-law) gave me. All the way from South Korea! It really is beautiful with it's soft layers and boho pattern design-

-my hand cut leather heart trio necklace (OddOneOut) I kept one for myself. I'm so glad I did because the whole batch I made had sold out. I really need to make some more, they're really lovely to wear. Ah, my very first genuine leather shoes! A gift from Dave. We recently opened a Woolworths account, he got a jersey and coat for work and I got THESE! We had this deal going, you see... There is a pair of shoes I love that he absolutely hates! So he said that he would get me a new pair of shoes if I throw that pair out. When we got home and I tried on my new shoes(which Dave very happily approved of) I realized something, I'll have to take photo's of the two pairs together so you can see what I realized...in a continued post. Hahahaha!

30 Days of Dresses: Dress #17

Yay, it's Friday! Oh, I can't wait till tomorrow! We've been invited to go to Natasha(Bamboo Blossom) and her boyfriend, Martinus's house warming. They have moved closer to us, yay!

Back to my Dress Challenge, today was a bit warmer (again) so I thought it a good idea to try on the beautiful silk kimono dress that Dave's mom gave me the last time we visited. It is quite huge and I certainly don't have the longest arms and legs for it, but it feels awesome on.

-I'm not to sure as to where this kimono comes from. There was no tag to be found. It's definitely silk, though-

-I dream of becoming a true bohemian... I love this photo that Dave took, thanks for all your help my Lovey! I really appreciate it-
