30 Skirts in 30 Days: #24 Orange Cut-out

Okay, so yesterday was just not my day! Today was almost better… still I really do not actually feel up to blogging right now. But I have to, I've just got to suck it up and DO IT! So here goes…

Sunday was the loveliest sunny day. We haven't had many of those, after the flood two weekends ago it started raining again today. I love the rain, rainy days, the smell of wet soil, the desire to cuddle up with my crochet and a good old movie… I'm just a little concerned right now. Our area isn't used too so much rain in the summer, there's been a lot of water damage after only one weekend and now it's raining again!

Where was I? Oh yes, the skirt, right! Sunday was a lovely sunny day…

 -I've had this skirt for so long, I can't even remember where I bought it, the tag says Free Clothing. I think that's an Edgars brand. Anyway, it's a super cute little skirt with cut-out, embroidered details and a scalloped hem! What more can I say… oh, it's made of pure cotton and has a scallop-hemmed lining-

-Isn't that hem just the cutest? I not for our windy weather, I would probably wear this skirt a lot more often-

30 Skirts in 30 Days: #1 Purple Paisleys

It's Spring! Well okay, we're still freezing our butts off and there is snow on our surrounding mountains... But it's Spring! Happy Spring everyone! I Love this time of the year, there's a smell in the air that just so invigorating that one cant help but wanna sing or dance or do something silly!

Being the last month of my 20's, I'm doing a 30 Skirts in 30 Days challenge. Ah, the shops here in our little town are already stocked with summer clothes and after searching for pastel clothes for the past 2 years, I now see pastel lovelies everywhere! 

My first skirt is one of my favourites. My parents bought me two skirts way back when I was still in high school. This is one of them. It's from Edgars Woolworths, it's the loveliest 100% cotton and it's screen printed with the most beautiful paisley design. I don't think I'll ever get rid of this skirt. After so many washes and having had it for 12 odd years, it hasn't faded or anything. So here it is...

 -this skirt does have a bit of a Boho feel to it. I wish I were a fashion-gyspy, I just can't seem to pull it off. Anyway, as you can see, we had quite a chilly Spring Day here in Hermanus-

-here a closer pic, so you can see how pretty this skirt really is. The funny thing about this skirt (being a 100% Cotton and all) is that I have never had to iron it, not once. Isn't that awesome?! What's your favourite fibre and why do you like it so much? I would love to talk fibres with you!

Outfit Love: faux fur and printed trousers

Loving these colours at the moment! Creams and ochers, black and gold... you get the idea. So a few years ago, my aunt, Leiro, gave me a bag full of this "fancy-wool". I struggled for months to try to knit something from it. It's a very difficult fiber to work with, all the hairs make it impossible to see what you are doing. So I would get half way and then realize that I had dropped a stitch or two. Needless to say I had to start over a bunch of times. When I eventually finished it, it was a very shapeless infinity scarf. While visiting with Dave's family, his mom took out this beautiful shawl that she had knitted with similar wool, only she bought hers mixed with a few different fibers intertwined into the same ball of wool. I thought to myself, "wow, what an idea!" so when we got home, I dug out that scarf, pulled it apart and knit a plain brown wool together with the furry one. Now I've got a faux fur scarf, it's so warm and furry:)

Autumn is here...

Oh, dear! I'm so sorry that I didn't post my Outfit L.O.V.E. on Tuesday... We were on the road back from George, after spending the Easter weekend with Dave's parents.  It was quite the chilly weekend, rainy with the wind blowing like crazy and just freezing weather. Now we're back and it seems the turn of the season had snuck up on us over night... This outfit love is a perfect Autumn outfit and the orange is so fitting as the leaves start to change colour.

• 50's Style heels are from Edgars, also bought some time ago
